When comparing all three blogs: Full Sail University, Dollar
Shave, and Science World there are some interesting similarities and
differences. All three blogs do a good job of establishing online presence. It
seems to me that Full Sail and Science World are much more event oriented,
however. It seems the Dollar Shave blog is used more as a supplemental piece,
while Full Sail and Science World use their blogs as more of a marketing tool,
to spread the word about their goals.
All three blogs are similar in two big ways. First of all,
the three blogs all use a lot of visuals. There are pictures with pretty much
every blog post., no matter what the content. Secondly, all three blogs are
really done in a tone similar to their product. Full Sail emphasizes technology,
Science World has a lot of information done in a question and answer format,
and Dollar Shave uses humor with their employee bios and ads.
Science World and Dollar shave are similar in that they both
rely more on articles about their product than on other forms of social media,
where as Full Sail puts a ton of information on other forms of social media in
their blog posts.
The Full Sail and Dollar shave blogs are similar in that
they post a topic that helps to explain the blog post and then count on the
interested reader to click on the blog post for more information. They rely a
bit more on the reader being interested in the topic and seeking out more on
their own. The Science World uses either questions or very short phrases and
relies more on curiosity of the target audience to click on a link to learn
more information. This is due to the fact that Science World is promoting facts
about science in a fun way.
The Full Sail and Science World blog are much more advanced
in format. The Full Sail and Science World Blogs certainly have more content.
The Dollar Shave blog is much simpler, with many fewer links. Dollar Shave
really makes almost no use of the sidebar and the blog has much less
information. It seems Dollar Shave does not emphasize the blog as much in their
marketing as the other two blogs.
The Science World blog is unique in the fact that it is used
as half of a learning tool and half on marketing Science World. There are
several easy to understand articles on science, but you can also buy tickets to
events and even sign up for a membership to Science right off of the blog site.
The Full Sail blog is unique in the fact that it has links
to several social media sites in its sidebars. There is content that the reader
can obtain simply by clicking on the sidebars. The reader can go directly to
sites like YouTube, Tumblr, and Twitter just by following the links.
Dollar Shave is unique in how simple it is. The blog seems
like something that someone blogging just for fun would use as a journal. It is
not very in depth. It is set up more like random thoughts of the day as opposed
to tons of information.
